Abstract
In 1892, Nasse described a case of primary skin tumor that had similar microscopic findings as in the mixed tumor of the salivary gland. The term of chondroid syringoma has been used, since Hirsh and Helwig proposed it in 1961. It have been suggested that chondroid synringoma is arised from eccrine sweat gland. It occurs chiefly in adult male, and head and neck is the favorite site.
The authors experienced a case of chondroid syringoma found in the dorsum of right foot, of 23 years old male patient. A subcutaneous movable nodule was found in the dorsum of right foot, and it showed rapid growing tendency. On excision biopsy, it was easily shelled out. It was a multilobulated mass, 3 x 2 x 2 cm, that had a tan gray and myxoid cut surface. Microscpically, it composed of cellular area and loose myxoid area. The cellular area composed of spindle cells with some squamous cell islands. The loose area composed of scanty spindle cells admixed with myxoid stroma. Some mitotic figures (0.5-1/high power field) and a slight pleomorphism were noted in the cellular area.
We suggest that this case was a atypical form of chondroid syringoma in the point of clinical events and microscopic findings.
